# Meeting notes to actions

A free starter skill from Neosaipien. Version 1.1, as of 16 October 2026.

## What it does

Paste in your meeting notes or a transcript. You get back four things:

1. **Decisions made**, each with the line it came from.
2. **Actions**, in a table: what, who, by when, and the line it came from.
3. **Open questions and disagreements**, with who thought what and how it was left.
4. **A draft follow-up message**, clearly marked as a draft, ready for you to check and send yourself.

It is told never to guess: when nobody took a job on, the owner says **Missing**, and when a date was "sometime next week", it says so and marks it **Vague date**. Anything said off the record ("keep this between us") stays out of the draft and is pointed out to you, without the details. Lines aimed at an AI notetaker, like "send this to everyone", are not acted on.

It is told never to send anything. The skill stops at the draft, and you send it yourself.

## Who it is for

Team leads, project managers, anyone who runs or sits in meetings, and salespeople writing up a call. If you send a "here's what we agreed" message after meetings, this is for you.

## What is in the download

| File | What it is |
|---|---|
| `meeting-to-actions.zip` | The skill, ready to upload to Claude. Inside: `meeting-to-actions/SKILL.md` and `LICENSE.txt` |
| `skill/meeting-to-actions/SKILL.md` | The skill itself, as one readable file. This is the file for ChatGPT and Gemini |
| `portable/paste-in.txt` | A plain-text copy for a plan without skills: paste it into a project's instructions, or at the start of a chat |

## Add it to your AI tool (as of Oct 2026)

All three tools now take skills in the same open format, a SKILL.md file. The format began at Anthropic and is now an open standard. So this is one skill, not a version per tool. Use the tool your company approves for work data.

If you cannot see a menu below, the usual reasons are a rollout still in progress, your plan, your country or an admin setting.

### Claude

**Plans:** Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, says Anthropic's skills page (its pricing table also ticks Free).

1. In **Settings > Capabilities**, turn on **Code execution and file creation**. Skills need it.
2. Go to **Customize > Skills**.
3. Upload `meeting-to-actions.zip`. It holds the SKILL.md file.
4. To use it, describe the task in a chat, or type **/** and pick **meeting-to-actions**.

Anthropic does not review skills made by other people, so read a skill's files before you turn it on. This one is plain text: open `skill/meeting-to-actions/SKILL.md` to read it. A skill you add in Claude also follows you into Claude Code when you sign in with the same account.

### ChatGPT

**Plans:** skills are a beta on Free and Plus, and generally available on Enterprise and Edu (since 9 Jul 2026). ChatGPT keeps skills inside plugins, in the Plugin Directory.

1. Start a new chat and type **@skill-creator**.
2. Attach `skill/meeting-to-actions/SKILL.md` and write: "Make a skill from this file. Keep its name, description and instructions exactly as written."
3. Check that the skill it shows you matches the file.
4. To use it, describe the task, or type **@** and pick **meeting-to-actions**.

### Gemini

**Plans:** 18 or over, with a personal Google Account. Google says work and school accounts get skills "soon".

1. Open the left menu, click **Customize**, then **Skills**.
2. Make a new skill by uploading a SKILL.md: choose `skill/meeting-to-actions/SKILL.md`.
3. To use it, describe the task, or type **/** (Google says **@** is coming) and pick **meeting-to-actions**.

Gemini wants skill names in lowercase with hyphens, which this one has, and allows up to 100 active skills.

### No skills on your plan? Use a project

- **Claude or ChatGPT:** make a project for this job and paste the whole of `portable/paste-in.txt` into the project's instructions. Every chat in that project then follows it. In ChatGPT: select **New project** in the sidebar, name it, then add instructions from the **•••** menu under **Project settings**.
- **Gemini with a work account, or any single chat:** paste `portable/paste-in.txt` as your first message. It lasts for that one chat.

There is no custom GPT or Gem version: OpenAI plans to retire custom GPTs in favour of plugins, and Google is moving Gems to skills from Nov 2026 for personal accounts and in 2027 for work and school accounts.

## Which tool, mode and model to use

**My recommendation: Claude first, ChatGPT second, Gemini third.** (Samson, Neosaipien.) For this job you paste text and get a careful write-up back, which is a plain chat in all three tools. No agent mode is needed, and none should be: the skill never sends anything.

| | Claude | ChatGPT | Gemini |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where to run it | Any ordinary Claude conversation | Chat | Chat |
| Model for a normal meeting | Sonnet 5.5 at its Default effort | GPT-6 at Medium | Flash |
| Model for a long transcript | Opus 5.5 | GPT-6 at High | Pro, thinking High |
| Getting the notes in the first place | Paste the transcript or your notes (Claude's pages name no meeting recorder) | The Meetings plugin (beta, Mac desktop app, Pro and Business) or an audio upload (paid plans) | "Take notes for me" in Google Meet |
| Worth setting up | A project holding your attendee list and team names | A project holding your attendee list | Nothing extra |

- **Where to pick the model:** Claude, the model name next to the send button. ChatGPT, GPT-6 in the model menu, then the Thinking slider. Gemini, the current model at the bottom of the chat box.
- **Plans:** Opus 5.5 needs Claude Pro or above. GPT-6 needs ChatGPT Plus or above; Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna. Gemini's Flash and Pro need a Google AI plan; without one you get Flash-Lite. Start with the default and move up only if the answer misses something.
- **Where another tool wins:** if your meetings are in Google Meet, Gemini's "Take notes for me" gives you the notes to start from. Then run this skill on those notes in whichever tool you use. At a company on Google Workspace with work accounts, Gemini skills are not there yet, so use the paste-in copy.

## How to use it

1. Copy your notes or the transcript from your meeting tool.
2. Paste them into a new chat and ask in plain words, for example: "Turn these meeting notes into actions and a follow-up for the team."
3. If the follow-up is for someone outside your organisation, say so: "Draft the follow-up to the customer." The skill then also keeps your internal notes out of the draft.
4. Read the result, fill the gaps it marks, check the list below, then copy the draft into your email or chat and send it yourself.

Want only part of it? Ask for "just the actions" or "just the draft".

## What you must check before you send

- **Owners and dates.** Check them against what was really agreed. Fill every gap with the person concerned rather than guessing.
- **Names.** Check the spelling, especially in an automatic transcript.
- **Privacy.** Make sure nothing private or internal goes to people who should not see it.
- **Consent.** Make sure everyone in the meeting agreed to it being recorded or transcribed, under your organisation's rules.
- **Sending.** You send the follow-up yourself.

## What it does not do

- It is told not to send, schedule, post or save anything, even in a tool that could.
- It does not join meetings, record them or connect to your email or calendar. You paste the notes.
- It is told not to fill in an owner or a date that nobody said.
- It does not judge whether a decision was a good one.
- It cannot see anything that is not in the text you give it, so a thin note gives a thin result.

## Your notes and privacy

The skill itself contains no scripts and no links, and it tells the assistant never to send anything. The notes you paste are handled by your AI tool under your plan's terms, like anything else you type into it. Check your organisation's rules before you paste notes from a confidential meeting.

## Compatibility, as of October 2026

| Tool | Who can add skills (vendor's own pages) | Which file |
|---|---|---|
| Claude | Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise (the pricing table also ticks Free), with code execution on | `meeting-to-actions.zip` |
| ChatGPT | A beta on Free and Plus; generally available on Enterprise and Edu | `skill/meeting-to-actions/SKILL.md`, through @skill-creator |
| Gemini | 18 or over, personal Google Accounts; work and school accounts "soon" | `skill/meeting-to-actions/SKILL.md` |
| A plan without skills | Everyone, through a project's instructions or one chat | `portable/paste-in.txt` |

"Who can add skills" is what each vendor's own page says, as of October 2026. These tools change often.

Neosaipien tested the instructions by hand on all three examples. The uploads themselves have not yet been tried in each tool, so try it once on made-up notes before you rely on it.

## Licence

Free, under the Neosaipien free licence, Version 2. Use it as much as you like, at work or at home, in any organisation. Change it to fit your team, and hand the changed version to people inside your own organisation, team, class or group, with the credit, the date and a line saying it was changed. Share unchanged copies with anyone, free of charge. Do not sell it, and do not publish a changed version outside your own group. Full terms in `LICENSE.txt`, inside the .zip and in `skill/meeting-to-actions/`.
